Ross Cooper
Personal Trainer

About Me:

My name is Ross Cooper, I have been Personal Training since June 2006. In 2004/2005 I went backpacking around the world and realised that I wanted from a career was to help people, The obvious choice was to become a personal trainer.

I've always been into fitness for as long as i can remember, when i was younger I wanted to be Worlds strongest man/ Footballer/ Basketball player/ Wrestler/ Athlete (Olympian). Genetics plays a huge part in all of these factors, but also it takes having the right mind set and determination to push yourself mentaly (mind) physically (body) nutrition (health). Once you get the mind focused, and train hard but sensibally and treat your body with the respect it deserves, by fueling yourself with the correct nutrion then anything is possible.

This is where my guidance on correct exercises, the right foods, motivation and support that you need to succseed.

Before i became a personal trainer i played sports and lived a relatity normal life with a normal diet. I ate what i thought was healthy home cooked meals, ate all of my breakfast, lunch and dinner, so why was i unfit and not the worlds strongest man/ footballer or any of my other dreams?

The more you learn about health and fitness, the more you realise there is to learn. I have studied what i belive to be the best option of healthy eating and also depending on your goals, the best option of fitness. I realised although i was eating at the correct times of the day, i needed to change parts of my diet. i needed to replace my bad snacks with healthy snacks, cut down on refine carbs, eat healthier breakfasts more protein to help support my active lifestyle. When diet changed my engery levels changed which then affected my exercise, i could train harder and better, then i trained smarter and as a result i look and feel better than i ever have done. Its as simple as that.

When I started my courses to be an instructor I was hooked, I found it fascinating learning all about the human body, what it is capable of and all the various techniques of training people. I am always updating my knowledge to keep my REPS level 3 Personal Trainer status through attending CPD courses. I have a real passion for helping people achieve their goals, it makes me feel great when I get positive feedback from them. I try to make it Fun, Enjoyable, but also Challenging, with my Friendly and Enthusiastic nature. I am very empathetic when it comes to newcomers to exercise and also working around injuries or medical conditions, so as to still achieve a valuable workout with each session. My interests are playing and watching Football, Running, Gym, Classes, Surfing, Kayaking, Golf, Travel and Socialising.

Professional Experience:

I have gained a vast amount of experience over these years where My clients age group ranges from 11-70, with various conditions including Cystic Fibrosis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, High Blood Pressure, Ex Cardiac Rehab, Low Fitness Levels, new to exercise and intimidated by the thought of it, running events from 3k-10miles, general fitness and toning, and people looking to get lean and gain muscle. I have always found a way around these and leaving the client feeling like they had a great workout, whether it just being enough to ease the person into exercise or to push them to the limits, its about knowing and understanding the needs of your clients and having great people skills. I currently run fat loss bootcamps in Portsmouth, I have a mixture of ages, levels and abilities of personal training clients.
